Trying to Find the True Story

Part One

I will analyze a story reported by two popular News Current Affairs television and will point out the facts from the fiction . The story piece is DHS , FBI Warn of Possibility of Female Homicide Bombers from Fox News and U .S . agencies warn of female suicide bombers ' from CNN , both broadcasted and published on February 12 , 2008

CNN portrays that many religious people have not responded to the wake-up call of this

story , and have remained stuck in their old sectarian positions . In the Roman Catholic Church , for example , as the scandal of sexual abuse has grown , some in the hierarchy have seemed more concerned about the integrity of the institution than about the truth or compassion for the victims . Many Muslims , in fear of western reprisals and profoundly disturbed by what has been done in the name of their religion , have simply retreated to the mosques , and have not been sufficiently forthcoming in condemning the atrocities some Jewish communities , equally disturbed by unfolding events , denounce every criticism of USA and its citizens

Women have been reported as attackers in the Russian breakaway republic of Chechnya and in India , Iraq , Pakistan , the Palestinian territories , Sri Lanka and Turkey (CNN , U .S . agencies warn of female suicide bombers

In the present world , however , such a strategy would neither be morally justifiable nor practical to implement , given the dispersed and distributed organization of terrorist institutions among distantly separated populations that collectively number in the hundreds of millions . Likewise , retaliation in kind ( tit-for-tat ) is not morally acceptable if allies are sought . Even in more localized settings , such as the media fictions reporting , coercive policies alone may not achieve lasting relief from attack and can exacerbate the problem over time . On the inducement side , the true facts are that social psychology research indicates that people who identify with antagonistic groups use conflicting information from the other group to reinforce antagonism Thus , simply trying to persuade others from without by bombarding them with more self-serving information may only increase hostility

Fox News events of this story revealed the dark side of media playing with people 's minds and fears , so it is not surprising that some religious people have responded to the crisis by drawing in their horns and becoming more tribal . But it is not sufficient for the official faiths simply to denounce this wave of religious terror verbally . In their reporting they fill up people minds with fear and rage fundamentalists tend to distort the very tradition they are trying to defend , especially by exaggerating its belligerent elements and downplaying those that insist upon respect for the sacred rights of others . Religion itself was hijacked and discredited on this story , and it must now be reclaimed by a compassionate offensive which shows that religion can make a difference to a world torn apart by hatred and fear "facilities such as public places are the most vulnerable to...
