Truth has nothing to fear from investigation
Name Course Date Truth has nothing to fear from investigation Considering Pepperdine 's affirmation statement : Truth has nothing to fear from investigation ' my mind automatically - as in a flash of light - recalled a statement from the Bible which was uttered by the Apostle Paul in his letter to the Corinthians : But we have renounced the hidden things of shame , not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully , but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man 's conscience in the sight of God (NKJV , 1982

br These words of the apostle have always challenged my commitment for truth . As a Christian , I know I have to live my life in truth and honesty yet in the world where most people settle for half truths where the best truth a man could come up with in all his dealings is almost truth ' it is really difficult to maintain truthfulness . To lie has become a part of life . It is as easy as breathing . When someone would ask another , How are you ' the ready answer was , I 'm fine though that might not be the real and exact of the person 's state of affairs . To state the truth presupposes the fact that issues have been considered carefully . Words are not to be taken lightly
I am committed to truth since the principles that govern my conscience are biblical truths . God 's Words are the absolute standard for truth and it 's only when an institution , or students , or a person , are committed and bound by the truths of the Bible can they be expected properly to behave truthfully . During my time at Pepperdine , I believe that because it is an institution committed to Biblical faith , and hence , to the highest standards of excellence , my personal life will be enhanced Because truth is objective and must be continually pursued , this dedication to explore and grasp to the end the essence of the issues being investigated will bring us together to further realizations of the true nature of things . Moreover , because I believe that absolute truths can only be found in the inspired Scriptures , I promise to live by its truths and weigh things according to its standard of reality . Since Pepperdine is committed to the exploration of faith , it - above all else - must pass the truth test because even the inspired apostle (Apostle Paul ) has commended himself to every man 's conscience in the sight of God
