ABSTRACT

This study aims to present the use of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing or EMDR procedure in the treatment of incestuous sexual offender by undergoing trauma resolution procedure . This technique however , is not a replacement for cognitive-behavioral treatment or relapse prevention treatment of those with childhood sexual traumatic experiences . EMDR technique is instead used to enhance the treatment progress in terms motivating progress for treatment , reduction of denial of patient and victim empathy development

INTRODUCTION

Post-traumatic stress dis (PTSD ) develops after surviving a traumatic experience , which leaves a

scar on the survivor 's psychological well-being and functionality . Often times stress due to trauma may result to the survivor having difficulties in expressing emotion and dealing with day-to-day situation and his or her environment . Sexual abuse or early childhood sexual molestation is one scenario that usually leads to post traumatic syndrome

Victims of sexual molestation may show different symptoms as indicators of posttraumatic stress dis . Survivors may avoid sexual intimacy or contact . This may be manifested through sleep disturbance avoidance of sexual activity , startle response that may be exaggerated and the occurrence of nightmares related to the trauma
