the development of Arizona has been the oil pipeline . The pipeline that lies near my residence is an oil pipeline that transports oil and natural gas from the other parts of the US to the State of Arizona . Much of Arizona economy has hugely depended on the mining industry , especially for copper and silver . There has been a huge demand for oil and natural gas by the residents and the people of Arizona , and this has resulted in the large number of pipelines in the state (Ertter , 2007 Arizona 's Pipeline History 2007
I do feel that this pipeline has benefited the Arizona region immensely Following the World War 2 , the population of Arizona has been on the rise , and this has resulted in greater dependency on oil and natural gas . Earlier , these products were transported across the desert using train . However , the demand has hugely increased , and the developers felt that it would be better to install a permanent oil pipeline across the desert and the mountains . The first major oil pipeline was laid down in the early 1980 's . It made its way from South California to Phoenix . The refineries in Arizona received this oil and processed it for local consumption . The effectiveness of these oil pipelines has been so great that it has almost undermined the importance of the railroad in bringing oil to the population and the industry in Arizona This has contributed to the development of the state (right from an uninhabited desert to a one of the fastest growing states in the US (Ertter , 2007 Arizona 's Pipeline History , 2007
I do feel that an oil pipeline is required in the State of Arizona , as large quantities have to be transported across the Rocky Mountains Besides , it is also important to maintain a low pro of such a huge venture . It can definitely be considered as another mean of transportation as the oil pipeline has almost destroyed the other means of transportation (such as railroad and trucks (Ertter , 2007 Arizona 's Pipeline History , 2007
