The Tragedy of Othello

br Iago 's Treachery

William Shakespeare has written many tragic dramas in his era . The dramas of Shakespeare were always having a particular charactaristic like the hero or the main character of the play is always the most powerful person but because of his one mistake he makes his own life like a hell . Here in Othello , Othello was the most powerful person and was also very happy as he was able to marry his love but just because Iago poisioned his ears against Desdemona , he just killed his wife and later

when he came to know about the Treachery of Iago , he killed himself and thus a great man and a successful lovestory ended with a tragic end In the first part of this play we are introduced to the main characters of the play . And as the play goes on we can find out the fantastic character weaving skill of Shakespeare . As in the first scene , Iago and Roderigo disagree and that matter is revealed later in the play . This is the story of an evil plan that ruins Othello 's life in two ways , First is that Iago wanted revenge from Othello of not promoting him and Roderigo is the one who wants Desdemona , Here Othello is the person of main hatred of both Iago and Roderigo . In the first scene Othello 's name is not revealed instead they call him "The Moor " And to make it more complecated , Iago and Roderigo , tells Brabanzio , Desdemona 's father that he is "robbed " of his precious daughter by her suddenly getting married without informing her father . And this adds to the hartred of Brabanzio towards Othello and makes him to his army to face Othello .Page :2

In this play Iago 's character is very much manupulative and treacherous as we can make out from the famous quote of the act " Iago is most honest ( Shakespeare II iii 7 . Iago is always eager to plant the roots of malice in even the ordinary happenings . Such as while Cassio holds habds of Desdemona while boarding the ship , he creates a mountain out of that incidence . Also it appears that Iago used to hate woman , this we can make out from the freaquent insults towards Emilia and Desdemona This hatred may also be the result of his suspicion that Othello and his wife are having affair , and this is reveales by him frequently saying "Wife for wife . Later also he continues to ruin the relationship of Othello with his wife by constantly telling him , look to her , Moor , if thou hast eyes to see : She has deceived her father , and may thee .--My life upon her faith ! Also while he is alone with Othello , he keeps on telling Othello that Desdemona is having an affair with Cassio , And he also tells him to try to make out from the behaviour of Desdemona when she is with Cassio There are many such incidences in the play...
