Toxicology and Environmental Epidemiology

Analysis of on Toxicology

Arsenic is known to be one of the most toxic substances present in the environment . In its natural state , both in organic and inorganic form it is able to cause harmful effects on human body due to a variety of transport mediums . Just recently , the UK Environmental Agency has published a report which specifies the cause and effect of arsenic in air . The study aims to highlight the importance of airborne threats of arsenic particles on humans . Although air is not the primary route of exposure and constitutes

less than one percent of airborne arsenic can easily be prod as contributing to all the other primary routes such as food , water and even cigarette smoke (Caussy

The study highlights contributions from well known research proving that arsenic is more harmful to humans then animals whereas the level of toxicity inhaled from the lungs is determined by its chemical form solubility and particle size . The highest distribution of arsenic is found in nails , hair and urine . Urine is found to be the primary source of elimination of arsenic in a human body , accounting for 30 to 60 percent of drainage . The elimination is fairly rapid both in animals and the humans where low dosage is usually cleared within hours of absorption . Studies by various Environmental Agencies suggest that high dose of Arsenic can have a lethal effect on humans within 30 to 60 minutes leading to gastrointestinal problems resulting in low blood pressure...
