Tourism and my expeirence
Running head : TOURISM AND MY EXPERIENCE Tourism and my Experience Abstract In this report , I have chosen to focus on the second principle of the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism , which talks about Tourism being a vehicle for individual and collective fulfillment . I chose this particular principle because a lot of my experiences and observations in the places I visited re-affirm the need for this principle as a guide not just for the visitor but for the local inhabitants of each country as well . This Article is also the basis

of the practical guide endorsed by the World Tourism Organization The Responsible Tourist and Traveler which should be the bible of every traveler
Tourism and My Experiences
Like everyone else , traveling around the globe has always been a lifelong dream . But I know that not everyone will be lucky enough to fulfill this lifelong dream . Fortunately , I am not one of those unlucky ones . Over the past 10 years , I have visited numerous Asian countries either on business or pleasure . I have been to Shanghai , Macao Singapore , Malaysia , Indonesia and Thailand . I also lived in Hong Kong for several years but I was born and raised in the Philippines . Most of my travel involved work but I make it a point to at least take time out to sample the many pleasurable things I can do in each place I visit
Before I lived in Hong Kong , traveling was just an excuse for me to shop , have fun , shop , explore , and shop . I never go to a place thinking what things I will learn from the place or what kind of fulfillment other than my thirst to shop I will get out of the trip . Living in Hong Kong taught me that there is more to a trip than just visiting shops that there is more to a place than just great shops and bazaars
The time I spent in Hong Kong opened my mind to a lot of things . Like majority of the Filipinos , I am a straight Catholic . My mind is close to any other religion or spiritual practices . In Hong Kong I met and made a lot of friends who are practicing Buddhist . They opened my eyes and my mind to their religion , teaching me how to appreciate their practices This helped me become more understanding of other people 's religious practices . My friends also taught me how to speak their language by teaching me the basic words I will need to converse with others
Of course , I still cannot stop myself from shopping . This is one agenda that cannot be taken out of my list when traveling . In every place I visit , I try to buy at least one local handicraft and products . I particularly like the Sarong ' worn by the Balinese women and the silk scarves sold in the streets of Bangkok . As much as possible , I try to avoid handicraft made from wild animals
In 2003 , during the outbreak of the Severe Acute...
