Tornadoes
Tornadoes are one of the most hazardous weather phenomena to plague the
world with tendencies to wreak havoc worst than super typhoons and
snowstorms . Nature 's fury as tornadoes manifest tend to leave a path of
destruction with no exact perpetrator to pinpoint . Despite numerous
studies regarding its nature and structure , scientific efforts to
achieve such comprehension still entail difficulty in classifying what
weather conditions are considered as tornadoes . Since its true nature
and structure still remain to be determined , general information and
damage assertion pose as vital elements in analyzing such disastrous
phenomenon .
A tornado is a destructive spirals of wind that usually have speeds
measuring more than 100 miles per hour and can reach up to 300 miles per
hour (Edwards , 2006 . It is usually integrated with cloud formations
resemblant of a funnel , though not all cases manifest such visual
evidence . A tornado is also commonly associated with intense weather
conditions like thunderstorms . Tornadoes are approximately 300-500
yards wide and may stretch up to 100 miles or more (Edwards , 2006 .
Tornadoes come from different directions , from south to north and east
to west . And because of the unpredictable nature of the wind , some
tornadoes may alter course amid path . In this sense , an increased
incidence of tornado inducing conditions such as hurricanes , causes
tornadoes to extend to different directions .
Though as previously mentioned , there is a diversity on the tornado 's
nature and structure , a vortex of wind is categorized as a tornado when
it stretches from the cloud 's base down to ground level (Edwards , 2006 .
This method of classification however still does not constitute a full
proof categorization of tornadoes , this is because numerous weather
phenomena such as a strong mesocyclone (rotating thunderstorm ) can be
misconstrued as a large weak tornado (Edwards , 2006 . In addition , it
is also arguable whether several ground-touching funnels constitute as
multiple tornadoes .
Considering the the fact that not all tornadoes have funnel cloud
formations , the questions how do tornadoes form and on what ground a
wind vortex classifies as a tornado . are raised . The traditional
explanation suggests that most tornadoes form through a mixture between
warm moist Gulf air and Canadian air together with dry air from the
broad mountain range in the western regions of North America (Edwards ,
2006 . Although most tornadoes appear to be a product of rotating
thunderstorms or supercells , it is also notable that thunderstorms spawn
other radical weather conditions such as damaging hail and non-tornadic
winds (Edwards , 2006 .
The Storm Prediction Center 's Roger Edwards suggests that tornadoes are
believed to be dictated by the conditions that encompass within the
mesocyclone (2006 . A particular theory implies that temperature
changes within a mesocyclone develops the formation of a tornado . a
mathematical theory meanwhile counters that tornado formation is not
dependent of temperature adjustments and some of the most devastating
tornadoes ever recorded have had very little temperature alterations .
It is mentioned that the tornado is a diverse natural phenomenon ,
however , its vast nature does not necessarily...
