Her book The Time Bind : When Work Becomes Home and Home Becomes Work is based on her intenstive study on Fortune 500 companies for which she took several interviews . She showed before women the real picture of our lives , how women who have struggled for freedom are now finding themselves in a very perplexing situation , crushed between the domestisity and their work . The book starts with the pictural discription of every day routine of child care center where in the morning parents come to drop their young toddlers

Just at 6 : 45 AM in the basement of Baptist church , a child care worker Diane Caselli , is making arrangements for the tiny toddlers and lays down the breakfast table . As soon as everything is ready and breakfast laid with small bowls , spoons , napkins and a pitcher of milk around a commanding box of Cheerios , a tall and awkward looking man entered the hall looking for Diane and behind him his son , Timmy Tromps came trotting along . In the room there are three windows , one of them is named as Waving Window . As soon as his father took his leave , Timmy came out of the room to wave him , his father just looked at him and rushed towards the car . Soon little after wards , at 7 : 40 AM , four-year old Cassie entered with her hair half combed , with blanket in one hand and fudge bar in the other , and her mother instantly says , I am late . Gwen Bell , her mother is a sturdy young women with short cropped dark hair with light make up and gold stud earrings , and dressed in Khaki slacks and Jackets . Her appearance is willfully looking like wearing business suits just like soldiers don Armour , ready to dash out , while some wear floral dresses depicting some festivity or leisure . From this story Hochschild shows the mirror of our daily lives . Then Hochchild goes on to give a data of the condition of working couples
