Paper Topic:

Tidal energy generation

These letting go of the water causes this turbines to move , thus creating electricity

Advantages

tidal power is considered as a renewable energy , tides are continuously flowing

tidal power has great potential for future power and electricity generation

tidal power is predictable

tidal power is free

tidal power doesn 't produce greenhouse gases or other waste that can cause pollution

no need for fuel to run the system

Maintenance does not cost much

tidal generators that were built over bodies of water can serve as

bridges and roads

Disadvantages

the energy that can be generated is limited , about 10 hours a day of energy production where the changes in tide occurs

tidal barrages cannot be build anywhere , limited sites to build the power system

construction of the tidal power plant costs a lot

tide levels might increase due to the use of dams in the production of tidal power which can cause the shoreline to be flooded and will have an adverse effect on the species populating near the shore

water system ' sedimentation and turbidity or how clear the water is can be affected

Conclusion

Weighing the advantages and disadvantages of using tidal energy to generate electricity , I have come to a decision that I am against the construction of tidal power plant and of the use of tidal energy . The reason why I had came up with this idea is because there is an unknown effect this tidal energy might bring on the plants and animals in the local environment and to the ecosystem . Fishes can also be killed when they came across the blades of the turbine . Sedimentation can also happen and the sitting up of waterways . It is evident based on the history that consequences are always there when humans change the natural balance of an environment...
