I would expect to find somewhat of a difference between the Programs for women , it is natural that there would have to be some concessions that recognize the undeniable differences , both physical and emotional that exist between men and women . I would not expect such programs to be as biased as those enacted during the prison reforms of the early twentieth century though , that were based as they were

upon the "Belief that women , because more tractable than men , required fewer restraints (Pollock .1997 .34 . I think the programs made available should be much more diversified than those earlier attempts made to accommodate the differences between men and women prisoners , which focused only on domestic qualities . The gender issue is a fine line to walk in the 21st century where women are viewed on a more equal level with men , and it is important to remember there are intrinsic differences that are sometimes overlooked in this age of equality especially when considering emotional needs

Clearly women in prison do have emotional needs and issues that need to be met though , that are very different from the men . For example , one distinct emotional needs difference that I feel exist between men and women prison populations would have to be the fact that many of these women have endured sexual and /or physical abuse , at the hands of men , how many men...
