Theory Critique - Crabb and Hawkins
This paradigm seem to justify Crabb 's model since through biblical counseling the person understands him in terms of value and therefore avoids the evil patterns of living (Crabb , 1977 82-85 .It is indisputable that this model conceptualizes that self worth originates from the understanding of self in light of who am I in the society and for eternal gain . Accordingly , Crabb 's contribution suffices the thinking that philosophical as well as intellectual counseling which is guided by tenets of psychology may not be sufficient to search for value Concisely , Crabb

's model leads to the development of the notion that the primary motivating factor in the individual satisfaction of their personal needs of security is their human experience . Crabb therefore asserts that because certain behaviors as a result of our attempts and thinking to meet some needs , lack of equilibrium sets into play especially when the goal seems like it will not be achieved (Crabb 1977 :76 . Accordingly , some needs are elusive and owing to the fact that man is an insatiable being , an individual 's motivational energy can be channeled to other needs that can be met . Emphatically , the effort of changing this channel should be governed by thinking and not behavior
Borrowing from the cognitive behavioral psychology to structure his model Crabb perfects the Christian psychology and helps Christians to understand their obedience to God 's commandment . It is however surprising that Crabb does not factor in the emergence of emotions which influences our behavior . This is incomprehensible because it fails to address the unconscious thinking which comes with emotions . Arguably Crabb offers a powerful tool that Christian counselors can use to help Christian fraternity build concession of how to understand themselves their personality and still serve God through prayer and service
