Jim Anderson is adapting to a supporting approach of leadership as he is not putting too much restrictions on the participants they are free to decide if they want to attend the seminar or not . Hence his style of leadership is not that directive . Additionally Jim created a friendly environment were the participants were encouraged to express their viewpoints and an interacting environment was

created by him to avoid boredom by the participants . Also he promoted people to mingle together and get to know each other properly , for this purpose he facilitated the participants with frequent coffee breaks . Jim wanted to make his style of leadership highly supportive in nature . Moreover as his style was less inclined to focus on goals and more towards supporting the people to help them utilize their skills effectively , this ensures that a supporting style of leadership was being practiced by Jim

The employees are in the D4 category as these employees are highly competitive and skilled . They have the knowledge of how to perform the job and the inspiration to complete the job . Hence these employees need less support from the leaders as they are well aware of handling critical circumstances they need more independence rather than support

He should change his leadership style into a delegating one , as leader ship style should be adjusted according to the development level of the employees . He should just tell the managers of what is required of them and give them the control of how they want to deal with the situation in a manner which they consider appropriate . There should be minimum intervention and directness from the leader 's sides , as Jim should be aware that he is dealing with spirited people who are already committed to their work and do their work effectively

He should call of the managers and tell him that they are extremely competitive people and they do need assistance from his side . He should tell them that he considers them capable of making this seminar a success all by them selves . The aim of the seminar should be clearly specified by Jim . Moreover then he should be confident to leave the achievement factor of the seminar in the hands of the employees Therefore the managers should be given the opportunity to deal with the scenario by themselves the way they are brilliant at , as a result great outcomes can be expected from them .
