This means that the company can serve its customers more efficiently than its competitors and thus a competitive edge is created . Therefore , the issues of maximizing performance and productivity in the supply chain are critical success factors in the current business environment . However addressing these issues means communicating a firm 's corporate culture to the external channel members so that both the employees of the firm and the channel members have shared expectations leading to greater effectiveness in performance management
