Al Qaeda is a terrorist group that has been carrying out terrorist activities in various countries of the world . Questions have arisen as to where it acquires funding from

Al Qaeda funding

One of the findings about Al Qaeda funding is that the group siphons millions of dollars from Islamic charities that help poor Muslims in Asia and Africa . The group works closely with sympathizers inside those charities who help them to access those humanitarian funds . For

instance , the terrorist attacks on Kenya , Indonesia and Tanzania have been said to have been financed by those humanitarian funds . Terrorist activities are usually funded by Islamic charities mainly due to the philanthropic ethics of the Muslim community to help those in need and hence these charities receive large sums of donations that they use to finance

Other funds sometimes end up in terrorist hands as was the case of Al-Haramain foundation that supports Islamic preachers . In other cases some branches of these charities have been accused of deliberately funding Al Qaeda terrorist activities

Al-Haramain for instance has various branches in the world and although it has been identified as one of the main financiers of Al Qaeda and all its branches closed , however , it is believed that it is still operational in countries like Kenya and Somalia . It is believed that the charity is operating under a different name having shifted its funds to fresh bank accounts and therefore lessening chances of being detected...
