The issue of terrorism has been in the public glare for the past few years now particularly after the events of the 9-11 . The United States finds itself in a unique position where it has been a victim of attacks from both international and domestic terror groups . In response , much of the efforts in the recent years have been directed towards arresting the international terrorism in the belief that it is the greatest threat to the security of the nation . The analysis of terrorism some times is compounded by the appropriateness of the basic definition of the term terrorism due to the fact that it is value laden . A look at history indicates that there are a number of groups and individuals that have been referred to as terrorists yet today are hailed as freedom fighters .
