Television and Children
Argumentative Research Proposal Should Advertising Be Considered As Responsible For Children Developing Unhealthy Eating Habits Much of the focus of concern regarding the relationship children 's television viewing welfare has been in the control of programming has been in the violence and sexual content of shows . Two factors that have raised the issue of even greater responsibility in programming has been because of the research supporting that television is the primary means of social orientation , entertainment and information of majority of children in developed countries and evidence suggesting that eating

habits are being adversely influenced by the nature of advertising in children 's television programming . The purpose of this valuation is to determine the validity of statement that advertising has a direct and substantial effect on children 's unhealthy eating habits
Since the cost of television advertising can be extreme , companies justify the cost by pushing products to consumers . The exposure of children in the course of their television viewing to unhealthy food products in the course of television viewing creates a positive correlation between watching a favorite program with a product . The United Kingdom government is among the countries that have taken significant strides regarding the issue . In the United States , efforts are being led by special interest and research groups that are developing the data to indicate that television is the major factor in children 's consumption of junk food and dislike for food that are associated with healthier diets . Advertising is major element and core of national marketing promotion efforts and is also considered as an indicator of brand presence and equity
To be able to evaluate the issue , the questions for the discussion will evaluate the existing evidence of influence of television on behavior and whether advertising can be linked to the development of unhealthy eating habits of children . How can television influence behavior ? What is the role of advertising in television programming ? What are the products typical to children 's programming ? How are the products being marketed ? How do children perceive the products ? Are parents aware of the type of advertising shown on television programming for children Have parents observed that their child 's exposure to junk food ' on television is the reason for the child 's preference for it ? Do children indicate that their awareness for junk food ' was through exposure to television advertising ? Can these advertising be considered as socially responsible ? What is the position of the companies regarding the promotion o health and wellness , particularly healthy habits among children ? Is there a congruity between their position and the nature of their advertising
