Abstract
Human services use several tools in advancing its goals and objectives .
Technological solutions have become more and more available to both the
public and private sectors in realizing the goals of every human service
organization . From planning , empowerment of the members , expanding the
contacts reached to the recordkeeping of the human service affairs of
organizations , technology has occupied a considerable space in these
developments .
Technology Solutions for Human Services
Human services in the society have been integral parts in the
continuance and development of the lives of people both from the public
and private spheres (Agranoff , 1991 , p . 533 . The government sector has
several major branches , and these branches consume a significant part in
servicing people . While there have been numerous barriers among various
human services such as services , planning , funding and empowerment ,
technology has nevertheless provided different means in order to
surmount these obstacles . The application of technology has held a wide
variety of uses in human services , and these things generally tend to
overcome the actual hindrances posed by earlier challenges .
Among the technological applications applied on human services include
but is certainly not limited to word processing , presentation ,
spreadsheet , database and software applications which generate reports .
Among the more specific examples of applications of technology in the
human service sector include the creation of information sheets and
files for the database of a certain human service group . Another example
would be that of the use of PowerPoint presentations in reporting the
status of the operations of the provider of the human services to the
public or to the members of the group .
The more recent technological tools which have been applied to the
various human services organizations are video or media presentations .
The creation of these videos and presentations has recently sought the
help of digital cameras as well as powerful and efficient video editing
computer applications in formulating better and more refined video
presentations . These things are evidently true among the many
governments in the world , and even more so in the affairs of private
corporations .
Human Services Planning
Technological applications such as word processors can greatly improve
the planning stage in human service groups by allowing the capability to
immediately create a softcopy of the plans which can then be later on
modified depending on the needs of the group . As plans of the human
services group grows more and more complicated , the special features in
word applications such as Microsoft 's Word give the users the capability
to find and replace specific words and phrases in the document so that
the document for planning can become more uniform . Apart from that , the
Word feature of Microsoft gives users the advantage to amend the
planning document at any time of their disposal , especially during times
when uncertain developments in the group transpire .
