Technology Plan
Technology 2008 Technology Introduction In information technology (IT , a network design plays important role in determining a success of transmitting information . Since network design is essential , Dennis (2002 ) suggests that there are three basic network designs that any network designer should take into account they are need analysis , technology design , and cost assessment However , information system does not only relate to hardware like desktop computers and servers but also include the comprehensive aspects of business such as customers , business process and also technology , to name a few as shown

in the figure 1 Figure 1 Eight Elements of Information Systems
Elements of Network
In general , network composes of four elements they are senders of information or transmitter , receivers , transmission media , and the information to be transmitted /exchanged between senders and receivers
In terms of transmission media , there are two general groups : wireline and wireless . Wireline includes cables (UTP , STP , and Fiber Optics Coaxial etc while wireless includes microwave radio , satellite infrared , laser etc . The two media have different advantages and disadvantages as following Table 1 Comparison of Wireline and Wireless
Wireline (Cable ) Wireless
Advantages
Conductor /cable provides EMI (Electromagnetic Interference
Have a broad range of frequency spectrum , which is suitable for various kinds of information (data , voice , video ) Advantages
Short lead time (easy installation
Easy reconfiguration Disadvantages
Difficult installation
Difficult troubleshooting Disadvantages
Limited range of frequency spectrum , which is suitable for various kinds of information (data , voice , video Building a Secure and Effective Intranet
Security Awareness
According to a global survey on financial service industry conducted by Cap Gemini Ernst Young 's it is found that security in a network becomes important issue since it reached peak in 1997 and 1998 when e-commerce started taking off the ground of traditional commerce . In intranet , the security concerns are also as high as the concerns on global network or e-commerce due to the possibility of data hacking and stealing over the Intranet
Methods of Hacking
Several actions that lead to the hacking processes they usually follow the following steps
Each time a user navigates to a particular web page that has been surfed previously by the same user the information stored in the form of cookies is sent to the server , which helps in identifying the user
Cookies remember the items in a user 's shopping cart even while the user continues shopping and returns to the cart later
Another user sitting on the same computer can access cookies created by one internet user . This is also true in case of networked computers as in a work place . In such a situation , the hacker need not be sitting at the specific computer to gain access to the computer 's hard drive since the networked set-up allows him to access other machines within the network
Methods of Data Protection
According to Scott Shebby the services his firm offers is the same as preventative maintenance like you do for your car
To run tests on the website and test its vulnerability
The identified loopholes...
