VPN (Virtual Private Network ) is a private communication that is used within a company or organization to communicate over a wider network The VPN message can be carried over Internet . In to establish security a firewall is established between the workstation and the users with authentication (normally login and password ) to access the data and resources from the server . Services like VPN before the arrival of Internet were very expensive to afford , the Internet has cut down the price for many business

In US by 2003 about 80 percent companies were using VPN . In Australia companies , such as Ansett , Telstra , ANZ Bank , Coles Myer are dependent on VPN their employee use VPN from overseas . In Asia about 20 percent of the companies are using IP based VPN . In Asia Korea and Malaysia are also moving towards the use of VPN Bigger companies such as 3Com and Nortel also support VPN and they are helping in accelerating the growth of VPN ACCA Networks Japan is using VPN . This virtual routing has allowed the company to control the process for multiple ISPs with a single router The technology helped ACCS to continue and grow its business and attract customer . The use of VPN allowed the company to cut the cost of communication in the wake of tough competition with its rivals

Aurora Health Care has clinics in 75 communities through out the Eastern Wisconsin , with 12 acute-care hospitals and 134 pharmacies . Even though the company was using traditional Internet , but it was unable to meet it 's growing needs . The company decided to update its network and purchases Juniper Networks hardware that has an integrated firewall and VPN along with traffic management functionality offering company speed up to 400 Mbs . The installation of VPN helped Aurora Health Care to decrease administration time and effort to keep its records up-to-date allowing company to save time and money

As BECO workers are using traditional devices for communication which being a small company is hard for them to afford . The ideal setup for small company like BECO will be to install Site-to-Site VPN that is an ideal alternative to WAN infrastructure . This system can connect offices , home offices and even business partner sites effectively and can also offer support for multiple protocols with higher reliability This approach will not only offer BECO to cut its cost of traditional medium (phone , fax etc , but also make the company and its worker more flexible
