Introduction

The teamsters were a group of Americans who had formed a labor union in the United States . They were initially known as the international brotherhood of teamsters , and were the largest union known by then . The origin of their name was believed to be from a person who used to drive a team of oxen , or mule train , and they adopted this which also reflected their logo and name . Many constituencies were united from this movement

The teamsters came out as a way of incorporating change after several years had passed with single movements , and politics of identity in the country , and now they felt the need of coming together with a common global goal . They started active politics which went together with political movements of the century , which included : environmental interest groups , anti-globalization forces , and initiatives on peace movement . Many unions never survived during the 21st century , but the teamsters proved to be adaptive and have stood to address the needs of its workers as well as those of the members .
