A team can be seen as a group that is working together to achieve certain goals be it in a project or in the normal operations of an organization . The effectiveness of a team in its operations is very vital for the success of the organization or for the achievement of the project goals and objectives . In essence , team effectiveness is dependent to a larger extent on the sharing of information between the team members . The ability of the

members of a team to understand and effectively communicate the relevant information determines the quality of their work and their performance in regard to team collaboration Team communication can be seen as composed of three components including sensory data , thoughts and feelings (Barry , 2001 , pp . 21

The sensory data in this context include the information in form of raw data that is absorbed by the team members through the senses . As such it includes what is heard or seen either verbally or non-verbally in regard to body language , gestures , actions or tones . In regard to thoughts , team members form ideas based on the sensory data available As such , it represents the aftermath of sensory data processing and represents concrete beliefs and thoughts as opposed to feelings . On the other hand , feelings represent the emotional reactions to the sensory data and the thought formed from the data . Feelings can be either rational or irrational but this is dependent on the sensory data available...
