Running Head : Teaching Strategy for 5th Graders Teaching Strategy for 5th Graders [School] In partial fulfillment of the requirements for [Subject] [Professor] [Date] ABSTRACT This discusses the different teaching strategies that a particular instructor may use for fifth graders . The proponent of the study discusses three types of strategy that can be applied to fifth grader students . These include class discussion , reciprocal teaching and tutoring . Each teaching strategy is described and discussed briefly in the text A teacher must know what type of teaching strategy must be

applied to students . Fifth graders are a sensitive lot because they are in the stage of puberty . According to an article from pbs .org , fifth graders work at school is more difficult than before . Teachers need to motivate their students by providing challenging long-term projects that needs planning and organization . There are three strategies that a teacher can use to help the student learn . There is the Class Discussion , reciprocal teaching and tutoring . The strategies used by the teachers depend on what the student would want to learn
Class Discussion is a type of teaching where a teacher discusses a in class and interacts with the students in the classroom . The interaction is usually interactive . The Center for Teaching of Stanford University (Fall , 2005 ) had shown that class discussion is a strategy wherein an instructor struggles to breakthrough the silence of the students and encourage students to interact . There are three objectives that a class discussion aims to achieve . First objective of class discussions is to increase the comfort of the student to discuss and talk about the subject . Through these discussions , the students are able to expand their knowledge and learn to practice analyzing the subject matter discussed in class . Fifth graders are not experts to the field and may find a subject matter boring . Through a class discussion , the teacher creates an atmosphere of learning because the students are able to interact amongst themselves . Second objective is to develop critical thinking . It is important to develop how a student thinks . Through the discussion an instructor is able to learn how a student reasons out and what the students think . Fifth graders may think differently from the instructor 's point of view . Through class discussions they are able to sharpen their mind and contribute to the class discussion through critical thinking . Third objective is a class discussion helps to develop problem solving skills of students . Fifth graders are encourage to show how they can be creative in solving a particular problem through class discussions . Brainstorming and deliberation can be used by an instructor to solve a particular problem discussed in class
