As parents relegate their kids to the care of the teacher , they expect teachers to be surrogate parents to their children inside the school 's premises . In this regard teachers play important roles of being models , inspiration , and mentors who would guide students to achieve their highest potentials . The task may be difficult , but with good intent and keen sensitivity to students needs , every teacher can provide the best services

and guidance to each of their students . Earning a degree in Special Education provides one with the readiness to design programs and teach students with special needs . However , this does not guarantee effective teaching that would help maximize potentials of students . More relevant to success is the attitude a teacher projects towards students . To be a Sped teacher is to understand students ' needs and be able to address them individually
My desire to become a special educator was birthed from my own personal experience of having special needs as a young child . Proud to have overcome all the barriers related to my condition , I would like to serve as an instrument for others to reach their goal and live a normal life too . In to do this , I will promote three values in all classes I shall handle in the near future . These values are respect communication , and innovation
