Teaching Mathematics to Elementary Students
The third error that we can find in the hypothetical worksheet provided to the student is what we encounter with student C an incomplete solution to the problem . While solving the problem , student C has apparently overlooked the last digit assuming 3 as a remainder while the solution is not complete in itself . This occurs due to negligence As per student C 's problem evaluation , student C proceeds right direction when it comes to solving the divisional sums . However , the quotient of the division sum provided is incomplete and the answer of

the remainder is not 3 . In this case , both the quotient and the remainder are wrong . 8222 divided by 7 equals 1174 with a remainder 4 and not what student C has stated (quotient as 117 with a remainder 3
In to verify each error made by each student , it is essential to proceed step-by-step checking the student 's problem evaluation strategy . In to know whether the student 's answer with regards to the problem posed for solving is right or wrong (since this is division , double-checking is the best method to verify . Another method to check whether the divisional sum 's quotient and remainder are right or wrong is to multiply the quotient with the dividend and then add the remainder to it . This would give the divisor . All the errors of the students can be verified by the methods outlined above
In to correct student A 's error , student A should be fluent in multiplication tables and this means thorough memorizing Student B makes a methodological error the concept of division should be revised with student B so that the mistake is avoided in the future Student C should practice more of divisional sums as he or she is in the process of neglecting the numbers...
