The term fidelity is used to mean the consensus level at which people interact with simulated models . Social scientists normally use the term to evaluate certain simulations in terms of the burden to it There is a difference between physical and psychological fidelities . In most cases , the social scientists tend to adopt the psychological part of it (Fords , 2001 . The social scientists have the type of thought that they do not need to

simulate an environment that is physical for their students because they feel that it is not meant for them . The trainees are not trained in any particular physical way as this is reserved for those who are out of the social sciences type of environment

Physical fidelity is oftenly used to refer to the actual jobs and task performed in a certain work environment . For one to accomplish such fidelities , there has to be an environment that is simulated physically so that the students can be able to learn in this type of environment For example , in aircraft training , an exact model of the airplane is constructed and it is on this basis that the students will learn about what happens in real life . This fidelity should be considered especially when it matters to the aims and objectives of the business in subject (Fords , 2001 . For instance when one is simulating a narration , can it be concluded that this type of fidelity holds any water ? It could go either way depending with the aim of the narration . That is , if it is intended to teach the participating person or if it is intended to solve some sort of situation that is tense . Actually , the level of this type of fidelity is directly depended on the business 's objectives . This means that physical fidelity is as a matter of fact very important in any work environment . Another example is that of a simulation of a flight . If the trainer wants the aircraft to be exactly the same as that of the real aircraft , he /she has to take physical fidelity into consideration (Goldsten , 2001 . The real flying environment including the landscape has to be factored in . One cannot use a different scenario to emulate that of the intended purpose

The fidelity that is psychological is that which incorporate the skill the knowledge and the abilities needed in the training environment . It is mostly used by social scientists who believe that coming up with a model in form of a simulation is a reality that is virtual . They insist on the psychological part of it as they believe that it is real in nature and constructive to their trainees . When planning on training the instructor needs to define the various tasks and jobs that are required to be done , keeping in mind the abilities , the skills and the knowledge concerning the same .
