THE X, Y THEORY
Title : Management (Name (Course Name (Institution Name 18th August 2010 Introduction In the current competitive business world , focused companies should ensure that the productivity of their employees is maintained at a high rate in order to increase the profitability of the company . One major way of attaining high profits is by motivating the employees . According to Douglas McGregor , there are two major theories of motivation . These include Theory X and Theory Y . Theory X maintains that managers must use coercion and threats in order to make the employees productive . On the

br other hand Theory Y argues that employees are self-motivated and willing to work as well as to develop their skills (McGregor , 2002 . In addition , managers who applies Theory Y , believes that by providing employees with conducive working atmosphere they will be more productive . This paper seeks to discuss the implications of the management and personal preference scores I attained after taking the X-Y theory 's questionnaire
After taking the survey I obtained 47 management scores while in the personal preference section I obtained 67 scores . This implies that as an employee I prefer Y Theory of management . Due to the need to be more productive and have less interference in my work , I believe that senior managers should give me adequate opportunities to develop my career This is one of the aspects which make me to be disinterested in X Theory due to the managers ' intention to limit the productivity of the employees through restrictive supervision , close control and...
