use of planned violence to instigate fear and intimidate nations or societies with the aim of achieving certain selfish goals which might be political , ideological or religious oriented . Another definition given by Taskhiri an Iranian religious scholar defines terrorism as an inhuman act which posses a security threat to a nation and violates the basic human rights . This act is often deliberate and causes extensive damage to property , bloodshed and death to innocent lives . Terrorist 's actions are normally focused towards creating a great psychological impact on the target society or government in to propel it to act fast and change its policies to avoid further damage /attacks . Terrorists usually base their acts of mass destruction on a religious or ideological background arguing that they are wiping out oppression in the society or acting in accordance with the will of their maker (Rensselaer and Raphael , 2005

The terrorism attack on Sept 11 2001 on the World Trade Center in New York and on the Pentagon in Washington are the most recent attacks on U .S and they had such a great impact on the nation 's economy as well as that of the world at large . Due to the increased terrorism threats in the world , there is an urgent need for governments and organizations to come up with strategies on how to face it and fight it effectively now and in the future (Reinberg , 2005 . This research basically seeks to analyze how the military group , security agencies and policy changes in the U . S and the world at large plan to face terrorism and increase its national as well as international security in the future .
