TECA 1303 - DQ #2 - Barriers
Neglecting the needs of an individual for respect and recognition has been proven to lead into conflict among members of the group . There is a need for changes on this approach for such concept would be detrimental for creating a harmonious relationship among individuals and groups This seeks to look into one of the barriers that I need to change which impedes a healthy relationship - Directing The will first elaborate on the definition of Directing Directing is another of the behaviors born of expediency (Developing Strong Perception , . 58 ) This behavior is the

process wherein an individual is overly using directive methods to make other people comply . When we are overly or unnecessarily directive , we usually encourage hostility , aggression , resistance , and /or passive-aggressive behavior (Developing Strong Perception ,
. 59
The next section will discuss why I want this behavior to be changed Looking at it , personally speaking it is really very difficult to continue tolerating people who are extremely directive in nature . I believe that a balance must be established between being directive and encouragement . Encouragement can stimulate a better response compared to a directive behavior . These are evident among the cases presented in the article . This behavior is usually evident in a parent-child relationship . Often , parents can be too authoritarian in nature that they tend to enforce too much to a child and neglecting their own individual feelings . As I see it , parents must be able to set the balance between authoritative and encouragement among their children Choosing the proper stimuli that will enable a person to cooperate and comply would be vital in addressing the extreme usage of being directive . It is said that too much of something is bad . The same also applies for directing . It was never mentioned that directing is bad However , the excessive application of the behavior is the one that creates conflict . That is one of the barriers that I think needs to be changed
