TEAM BASED INCENTIVES
(Drago and Garvey , 1998 Team based incentives is made up of financial rewards which are provided to employees based on the performance of the whole team and not on performance of the individual . In other words , team based incentives rewards the output of the whole team without recognizing the input of the individual employees . In a team , individual are supposed to pull in one direction (Drago and Heywood , 1995 . This means that a team is expected to have common goals and objectives which have been set by all members of the group

. One of the most appropriate ways to set goals and objectives for a team is to first ask for individual goals and later integrate all these goals to come up with same goals and objectives for the whole team
There are many reasons why a team would be more effective in accomplishing integrated tasks than an individual (Linda , 2009 . In a team , different individual have different skills and knowledge According to Gardener theory of multiple intelligences , different individual are gifted in different kinds of knowledge . This means an individual will perform well in some areas while they will not perform well in others . The nature of work in the 21st century has seen tasks which were accomplished before using only one kind of skill being accomplished using different skills as influenced by the changing nature of technology . As a result when an individual accomplish a task alone , his areas of weakness will impend on his areas of excellence which means the task may take longer time to accomplish or be accomplished in low standard .
