Synopses on The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin
Student Name Instructor Name Assignment Date Response to Chopin 's Story of an Hour Kate Chopin 's Story of an Hour ' is interesting on many levels to its readers . The short drama begins with a woman hearing the news of her husband 's accidental death and ending with her own death . The irony in that alone is intriguing , but the most interesting aspect of the story is in the response that Mrs . Mallard has to the news of her husband 's death . She sits alone and weeps heavily for a

moment and then is enlightened . After her extremely short grieving period , Mrs . Mallard realizes that she is free . She never states that it is her husband 's love or even maybe rule that she is free from , but she relishes in her surroundings as a free ' person
I find it very interesting that there is no clear answer to the story Questions are left answered . Why did Mrs . Mallard die ? What was their relationship really like ? Did she love him ? Was he kind ? Why did they marry ? Did they have children ? What did Mrs . Mallard think she was going to do with the rest of her life without her husband ? Was she relieved when he walked through the door or was she disappointed ? The most important question that I thin of when I think of this story is what if this happened to me ? Can I place myself in her position ? It is very intriguing
