GENERAL LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1 . The student adds , subtracts , multiplies , and divides whole numbers decimals , and fractions , as well as mixed numbers , in solving real-life problems encountered , by applying relevant ways of mathematical

computation , such as mental mathematics , use of writing materials , and calculators

Specific learning target

By the end of the lesson the learner should be able to : -

Clearly use the of operation in computing mathematical problems by applying the concept of BODMAS i .e . B- bracket , O-of , D-division M-multiplication , A-addition and S-subtraction , mentally and in writing

Apply the knowledge acquired in class effectively by bringing real life encountered problems and providing concrete solution to improve general life

Employ the use of mathematical calculators in solving problems so as to improve on speed , accuracy general understanding of computation

2 . The learner should be able to understand and explain the effects of mathematical signs especially negatives on whole numbers , complex fractions , and decimals , recurring decimals including the reciprocal relationships of positive and negative numbers

Specific learning target

By the end of the lesson the learner should be able to : -

Correctly solve mixed fractions by rewriting them as improper fractions

Use the concept of reciprocal of a number in division of fractions without difficulty

Accurately compute mathematical sum involving division and multiplication with negative signs without losing their value
