Stereotypes are characteristic generalizations attributed to a certain group which may either be positive or negative , or mostly have disconfirming evidence . The stereotyped group of people may find themselves being perceived wrongly and in most cases being treated unfairly in the society . People can end up behaving in a manner in which they are stereotyped . For instance , a group of people may either be very friendly or very unfriendly because that is how they have been wrongly perceived . On the other hand , self-fulfilling prophesy can

be defined as a statement or a prediction that alters an individual 's action in future such that it consequently become true . The gesture can be unconscious therefore leading to fulfillment of the prediction by the altered actions
