It is argued by the author that there are a

number of methods through which design history can be studied . The environment of people is constantly there for the purpose of studying this particular field but is oftentimes taken for granted by people . In addition to this , the design is considered to be an element that affects people through direct or indirect means and in subconscious or conscious terms . The design and patterns that can be discerned with the way the environment is outlaid can be explained through design history but this is often ignored as people take for granted the familiar concepts in their surroundings . In addition to this , the different periods in the history of the human society has its own share of design and a characteristic or set of characteristics that makes it distinct from the rest of the periods .
