In for framing to exist , there must be a collection or pool ideas espoused by a single group . Through this frame of ideas , said group expresses themselves on how they see a certain issue or controversy . In the at hand , framing refers to the perception of forests as viewed by two groups with contrasting beliefs . However , the forest frame being discussed here is rooted to the difference in socio-cultural values which made the debate more serious and critical . The forest frames developed have both affirmative and negative results

which satisfy each group according to their own interest

The two competing methods of conceptualizing forests include forest harvest and forest conservation . These concepts had its roots in British Colombia 's economic , cultural and socio-political background . Moreover these came about because of the way people relate to their environmental bionetwork

On one hand , forest harvest is shaped by the free-market economic theory wherein the forest is viewed to be a source of livelihood for the people in British Colombia . Here , one 's own interest is evolved regardless of its effect in the environment . The forest is considered as an economic pool ' where its resources can be used by all since humans are considered to be the managers ' of such natural resources . Through the forests , technology can be advanced which is the solution to different environmental dilemmas

In contrast , the conservation frame reveals that human survival is relies on its relationship with nature thus people must possess ecological sensibility ' where they should promote and preserve natural resources --- flora and fauna alike . As such forests must be safeguarded and protected in the face of the morality aspect of nature and not for personal interests alone
