Running Head : American Mediation and Advocacy American Mediation and Advocacy Author Institution Professor Subject American Mediation and Advocacy Being one of the world powers and having much international ambitions to fulfill , the United States of America seeks to engage in mediation programs and to support advocacies both local and international However , certain actions may bring criticisms against the policies the US employ , primarily in its aggression towards other countries . But considering the major and minor conflicts and issues in and out of the country , the US has

established desirable and effective solutions to fulfill its responsibilities in upholding and developing human life and dignity . These advancements in policies are prediction of better international and local relationships in the future
After the Cold War , the U .S assumed the role of an international mediator in to resolve conflicts between countries (Etzioni , 1998 pp . 249-262 . Though many critics remained skeptic on its intentions in doing so , the results of implemented mediation policies have benefited both the conflicting parties . In particular to the Israel-Palestine Israel-Jordan , and Israel-Syria conflicts , the U .S played a major role in pointing out the key factors that led to these disputes and ensuring that these conflicts are resolved in a peaceful manner . In addition , the U .S took part in resolving the Russian conflict that led to the withdrawal of Russian troops from Estonia and in the transfer of nuclear missiles from Ukraine to Russia . The U .S government took part in these conflicts although the parties involved were once considered as enemies of the state . Thus , this proves that the US is serious on its arbitration policies
Local arbitration is now perceived in its highest point because of the implementation of transformative mediation rather than litigation procedures . The litigation process involves courts and lawyers making solutions for conflicts and domestic problems . These procedures are often financially expensive and emotionally exhausting . And most of the time , such process causes friction and hostility between parties to increase . On the other hand , transformative mediation allows both parties to resolve their problems with the help of a mediator , by discussing their options peacefully and open-mindedly to reach the most desirable solution . This involves voluntary participation from both parties , thus allowing the conflicting parties to compromise and choose the best way to solve the conflict
The United States , has always allowed diverse advocacies to strengthen and support those which are reflective of the country 's goals towards the presevation of human dignity . Throught the active participation of various advocacy groups , many policies and developments regarding child and women welfare have already been implemented . Humanitarian aids and development funds to other poor countries are also being acclaimed Lately , the freedom of gay couples to marry exemplifies effective advocacies in the country . This tolerance and support to advocacy groups are opening doors to innovations and human advancements in and out of the country , predicting a bright future for citizens
