The Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion , which is also known as Human Kinetics [Ontario Kinesiology Association] , develops and implements programs which promote the science of human movement . The focus of the department is on the application of scientific methods and interventions to optimize bodily functions and movements thus , making the individual person physically fit as he moves around in different settings of society

Environmental Influences

The Department shall take into

consideration the best practices of other organization engaged in the same business as the department . Where these best practices are applicable to the Department 's objectives , the same shall be adopted

Opportunities

The Department shall take into consideration offers made by other organizations for possible tie-ups and /or mergers . However , any decision of the Department shall be made consistent with its vision and mission Thus , where an organization which offers tie-up or merger has vision and mission statements not consistent with the Department , the said offer for tie-up or merger shall be declined

Presently , there is a potential merger with another organization who provides the same services as the Department . The 50-kilometer distance between that other organization and the Department may be an opportunity to strengthen organizational and business reach in to establish a wider client base for the Department . However , careful consideration shall be made in to evaluate whether that other organization is willing to commit to the vision and mission statement of the Department The merger should not compromise the Department 's advocacy which is to provide excellent service to its clients through the engagement of highly qualified personnel

The prospect of gaining bigger ground may be too tempting at the moment , which would make the decision for merger also equally attractive . However , it should be carefully evaluated and decision should be based on identification of risks , outcomes , and implications Where the risks outweigh the benefit by reason of such merger , then the Department may as well prepare itself for that eventuality . But where the merger would only confuse and complicate matters for the Department especially that this Strategic Plan is still for implementation , then the decision to postpone any such merger for future consideration should be best made . A merger is a business strategy for companies to combine their forces in to expand the business . In the case of the Department , expansion is not the priority . What is essential is to build the basic foundations of the Department in to make it fully effective and operational based on its Vision and Mission Statement

Risk Management

To be attuned with environmental concerns , risks , and impending issues the Department shall undertake to identify possible risks which may hamper or hinder the accomplishment of the Department 's objectives Risks are identified and measures to abate them shall be implemented
