People come and go , terms of office shifts budgets change expectations of shareholders change and many other changes are experienced in an organization

Strategic management leaders of an organization are required to define where they want the organization to be in the future and manage change by establishing appropriate policies Managers of any organization are required to think , act and learn by the use of tools in strategic planning . Strategic planning focuses on the entire processes of an organization and leads to specific target courses of action . Managers are required to become visionary and proactive but not reactive when implementing strategies of the organization . They should be flexible and practical to ensure they pursue strategies of the organization successfully . Decision making and resource allocation are key elements of strategic planning and managers should put into consideration the quality of decisions they make (Bryson Alston 2004
