Strategic management consists of competitive steps and approaches used in the business in to achieve successful performance . It is also the science of inventing and formulating various decisions that will enable the company to meet its set goals . It is the process of specifying the goals of an organization , developing plans to achieve these goals and allocating the required resources which will assist the company to achieve its missions . the activities taking place in various parts of the business in ot enable it meet its objectives (Westney ,2006 . It is in the top most management level that sets out strategies and all the activities are carried out by the board of directors and its foreseen that it is implementer by the company 's CEO (Chief Executive Officer This process is an ongoing one because it involves the assessing of various businesses and all the companies in which the organization is involved , assessing the performance of the competitors , ensuring that all the strategies that were planned are being implemented and also reassessing the technological changes that can be introduced into the market (Walker , 2002

S W weakness

As the Director of strategic planning of S W , there are various weaknesses I identified within the organization

There is high cost which is mainly as a result of using back dated manufacturing plants . These plants cost the company a fortune in terms of the expenses they incur in operations like

Maintenance - The machines which are being used in the production of goods for the company might be very old and therefore requires constant maintenance to keep them going which then results to a higher cost spent by the company in carrying out such activities

Consumption of much energy- Old machines develop various operational hitches . These hitches might then lead to lack of adequate functioning of the machines which might then result to over consumption of energy Also , most of the manufacturing plants which were installed two decades ago do not use electricity as their source of energy . Most of them use fossil fuels which are very expensive

Many laborers - because the current manufacturing plant is very old there are high chances that the plant is not integrated with computer services . Therefore , the jobs which could have been done by the computer are being done by humans hence increasing the cost of laborers

Low speed- old manufacturing plants might be slow because most jobs are being done manually . This therefore increases the cost of production

The installation of the manufacturing plant in a high labor cost urban areas also poses another expenditure nightmare . The high cost of laborers leads to high spending by the factory in the payment of salaries for its employees . This case is made worse in that most of the operations carried out in the plant are done manually and therefore involves the use of human labor . This then leads to higher...
