Elderly care refers to caring for and addressing the needs of people aged 65 years and above . It includes providing a variety of services to the elderly such as assisted living , adult day care and home care . The elderly faces financial challenges , mental decline and depression which need to be addressed by the people providing these services . Caring for these people require kindness , patience and hard work from the caregivers . The caretakers should remain in good

spirits and good mental and physical health so as to give the elderly a chance to enjoy and feel relaxed (Jennrich , 2008

The care given to elderly people varies greatly from one state to another and it is changing rapidly . Even in the same state this care varies from one region to another . Traditionally this care was a family affair and was provided within the extended family home . In modern societies care for the elderly is being provided by the state or charitable institutions . These changes occurred due to decrease in family size , increased life expectancy for the elderly people and increase in education among women who now work far away from their homes
