The book The Leadership Challenge ' written by Barry Posner and James Kouzes is a thought provoking book which has said to be stimulated a number of people to sort out the issues and challenges in their business organizations and in the ordinary walk of life . While the authors offer a very methodical depiction of a some kind of leadership , their elucidation excludes a variety of leadership

that is ever significant in our knowledge driven world namely Thought Leadership ' The approach of the author may be defined as Values leadership ' Thought Leadership is concerned with how novel ideas and thoughts are generated and assimilated while Values Leaderships relates to how we should live

Normally Values Leadership generates a deformed picture of leadership in life whereas Thought Leadership is concerned with the effect of innovation on any business organizational accomplishment and development in life generally

In this book , the authors use the phrase journey to refer their understanding of leadership . [Kouzes and Posner , 2007 ,p .156] . Thought Leadership pertains to methodology to change the method the people to think and is nothing to do with the managing people . It will come to a conclusion once the novel idea is being accepted by others . According to authors , Thought Leadership is an allegory that leadership is connected with position '[Kouzes and Posner , 2007 ,p .386] . Thus , despite of the fact of the size or informality of a group , if you are the leader inviting a group to perform a journey and you are assuring them to take them to the targeted destination securely , then such person is the head of affairs

Value leaders undertake an arduous journey and they should be strong minded person capable of delivering on promises . On the other hand thought leader is one who conceives an innovation or a new idea . For instance , quality of a thought leader is irrelevant . He may be lazy difficult to mingle or dishonest . However , if he is able to establish the value of an innovation or a novel idea , the disciples will respect such idea despite of his personality

According to Kouzes and Posner , leadership must also inevitably intentional and a visionary leader may not worry whether others follow his direction or not and it pertains to insight like a gestalt move rather than a lucid sketch to travel to a destination .
