His investigation leads him to the involvement of his friend , Dr Henry Jekyll . Henry 's contact with Mr . Edward Hyde who is the murderer raises doubt in the mind of Utterson . When he further studies the case he discovers some shocking facts about Dr Henry and his role

in the murder . In fact Dr Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde are the two personalities of the same person . Although Dr Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde are the personalities of the same person , they differ from each other in their physical characteristics actions , behavior and motives . Dr Henry Jekyll is a respected member of the society whereas Edward Hyde is a brutal murderer . Dr Jekyll represents the good side of his persona while Hyde embodies the evil side
