Racial and age prejudices resulting to the stereotyping of the blacks and the old people can be controlled . There are psychological processes involved in racial and age prejudices . Frank J . Farley classified prejudice into three categories : 1 cognitive prejudice which refers to what people believe is true 2 affective prejudice which refers to what people like and dislike . Black people belong to a racial group with a darker skin color and curly hair like the Africans . They do not differ from the other races only in appearance but also in behavior , intellect and origins . The old people , on the other hand , regardless of race , are those within the ages nearing or surpassing the average life span of human beings (Wikipedia They are those who have retired from employment or business and prefer to spend the rest of their twilight years enjoying life . They have limited regenerative abilities and are more prone to various ailments

These two groups of human beings are often subject to prejudices and stereotypes . Racial prejudices against the blacks and age discrimination against the elderly are realities or facts . Both groups are being stereotyped as dirty , loud , ignorant , poor , lazy and inefficient . The blacks are stereotyped as dirty due to the fact that their dark skin tone connotes dirt , slime , mud , grease , the streets , etc . while the old people are labeled as one because they no longer give priority to hygiene as muscle weakness and various ailments prevent them from doing a hygienic routine such as taking a bath and changing clothes more often

Another stereotype of both groups is their being loud . Generally blacks love music as they are blessed with good voices and they have the propensity towards engaging in the art of singing . Rappers and hip-hoppers are mostly blacks and popular singers /composers like Stevie Wonder have their share in the music industry . Being loud could mean they are enjoying to the hilt without regard for other people 's need for a more peaceful environment . But since the blacks enjoy their music they are unaware that the others consider them as loud or vulgar .
