Variables that are defined for the purpose of assessing the effectiveness of the new absenteeism program

The effectiveness of the new anti-absenteeism program may be assessed by looking into the variables of sick leave made last year , sick leave made this year which will show the effect before and after . The difference between the two would show whether there is a significant change between the two variables that led to the goal of the program

Since absenteeism using legal sick leaves is used by employees and the

br reduction of the same is the goal of the program , then it would be necessary to place under the study the use of employees of their sick leaves . This would provide a before and an after scenario of the program that will be the primary concern when it comes to assessing the effectiveness of the program

Assessment of the effectiveness of the anti-absenteeism program using statistical tools

To assess the effectiveness of the anti-absenteeism program , it is necessary to use the statistical tools of mean , median , and mode for the two variables presented above and this will be followed by an assessment using Paired-Samples T-Test procedure

The mean , median , and mode of sick leaves made last year are 13 .16 13 .25 , and 18 respectively . On the other hand , the mean , median , and mode of sick leaves made this year are 8 .68 , 9 .25 , and 9 .75 respectively . There was a noticeable reduction in all three aspects especially with regard to the mean , which shows that the average days lost is reduced for the same set of employees . Likewise , the mode , which is the most frequently occurring value , has been reduced in half . The same decrease has been experienced by the median . The significant decrease in these statistical indicators shows that there was a decrease from the previous value as compared to the present

Using the Paired-Sample T-Test procedure , the following values are obtained Table 1 . Paired Samples Correlations

N Correlation Sig

Pair 1 Sick Leave Last Year Sick Leave This Year 233 .830 .000 From Table 1 above , it can be said that there is a positive Pearson correlation between the baseline , which is the sick leaves made last year and the sick leaves made this year from the value of .830 Likewise , it can be said that the respondents of the survey have constantly decreased their sick leaves made from last year to this year .Table 2 . Paired Samples Test

Mean Sig (2-tailed

Pair 1 Sick Leave Last year-Sick Leave This Year 4 .47747 .000 From the table above , it can be said that the difference between the mean of the two variables is 4 .47747 and this is significant at .000 level

From a practical standpoint , this would mean that the program is effective for the organization as the goal of reducing the availment of sick leaves that lead to absenteeism has been achieved as shown by the statistical results mentioned above
