STATISTICS PROJECT : OBESITY IN THE U .S

1 . Article 's Message . As the title suggests , the article focused mainly on the increasing rates of adult obesity , obese and overweight children in an increasing number of states in the United States Relatedly , it cites the worrisome health implications of having health-related weight problems such as cancer , diabetes and heart disease , as well

as the tremendous strains that the diseases will impose on health care resources of the government . On a lighter note the article also reports the current efforts being undertaken to address the problem through better eating habits in schools , among others

2 . Author 's Point of View . The author 's main purpose for the news article is merely to inform the readers about obesity and its negative effects on health complications and on the economy . The report was basically a summary of another report (presumably more authoritative entitled F as in Fat : How Obesity Policies Are Failing in America 2009 Nowhere has the author expressed his own views in the article except to summarize the findings from the said report which was the article 's main source of information
