The role of establishing standards in education has been long recognized in the United States . The standards play a major role in determining the level of education , achievement and capability of a student . One of the most recognized standardized tests is the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT . This high school-level test screens students for the university that they would like to apply to , as well as provides both students and educators their capacity for higher learning Other standardized tests have also been established for grade and high school level assessments

. However , these tests are not based on a unified concept of implementing standards for the entire country , but possibly only for the state . It is thus important that accountability and assessment of these so-called standardized tests be check in to determine the usefulness of standardized tests as tools for gauging college education

There is a genuine need for improvement in the attitudes of students with regards to tackling the subject of mathematics . More importantly students need to feel confident in solving mathematical exercises based on their comprehension and aptitude .
