Running Head : SPORTS Name : University : Course : Tutor : Date : Chapter 1 Sports Introduction Sport-related risks commonly overlooked in high school are mainly responsible for injuries that occur to participants in sports activities . Most sports-related injuries are avoidable , especially if the risks related to sports are regarded with more importance and treated as potential hazards . Sports-related injuries are an issue of growing concern in the United States and world over . The increase in participation in sports has led to a rise in sports related risks which in turn increase occurrence in sports-related injuries . It should not be assumed that only athletes are affected by these injuries , spectators too are at risk of sport-related injuries due to the fact that they are present in facilities where athletics are either training or competing . Also , the issue of sports-related risks and injuries has a significant impact on the healthcare system affecting policies and the budget of the healthcare system . In effect , sports-related risks have an effect on the economy of the country . 8Purpose of the The purpose of the study is to provide updated information from a variety of sources that describe sport-related risks that are overlooked in high schools . It focuses in outdoor and indoor facilities , equipment and athletes and risks in sports events . This focus aims at providing holistic approach to the issue of sports-related risks .
