Separation can destroy a nation . South Africa 's years under the apartheid were the worst years for this country . Many inequalities and unfair government policies were implemented based on the apartheid precept of separation which dictated that people needed to be classified according to the race : the whites , the Bantu or the black Africans , and colored class , or the ones of mixed decent eventually , another class which accommodated Asians , Indians , and Pakistanis was added (Davis 2008 ) This separation of people made

for a very limiting society where everything was not distributed equally . The apartheid was very pro-white , and as a result , only whites enjoyed quality education , lived in decent residences , received lucrative job opportunities , and were allowed to hold government offices (Davis , 2008 ) All the other classes received scraps from tables and suffered the persecution of those in power in cases where there was resistance to the apartheid (Davis , 2008 ) Social contact was even prohibited across classes (Davis , 2008 ) South Africa did not belong to the blacks during the apartheid until Nelson Mandela came into the picture . Mandela 's fight against the apartheid ruling party resulted in his eventual imprisonment (Frdngsmyr , 1994 ) He grappled with numerous challenges when he joined the African National Congress in 1944 in its fight against the apartheid (Frdngsmyr , 1994 ) His life 's work to re-claim South Africa for the blacks and re-institute a society where blacks and whites lived together with equal rights paid off...
