Software Development Rational Unified Process (RUP ) is an excellent iterative software development process which makes sure that all the business modeling and transitions for the business processes are handled efficiently

The elements of the framework of RUP are as follows

Inception phase : This marks the delimiting the business idea , processes and project scope . All the penetrations of the software are discovered at this stage and initial development of the prototype is done at this stage for having a clear idea of the software product (Sommerville 2007 p

Elaboration phase : At this stage the requirements are analyzed establish a sound architectural foundation , develop project plans and reduce all the major risks that are involved . All the components of the business processes are discovered and made sure that all the various penetrations are mapped accordingly in a behavioral diagram

Construction phase : At this phase the requirements are designed and developed for integrating the software processes together . It is also referred to as manufacturing phase where the emphasis is placed on managing resources , optimizing costs , quality , and schedule and controlling operations at large scale (IBM .com , 2008

Transition phase : It is a phase where after the product is deployed the business user 's requirement changes are managed well . The change and configuration requirements , environment and many other factors which indirectly affect the software development fall into this phase

The most essential component or phase is the transition phase . The reasons are as follows

Every software development model does not necessarily take into account the configuration and change management , project management and environment that presumably have a large impact over the software product as the final deliverable cannot circumvent the changes in the business and the global economy . So thereafter transition phase accounts for a greater and finer method for getting things done

The business environment is always subject to risks and changes due to expansion , economic and social reasons which must be taken into account to be synchronized for capturing resources for the business . RUP takes into account such dynamism using the transition phase
