Sociological imagination is a concept from Wright Mills . It is a unique and socially significant way of understanding the society . In particular , it is an outlook wherein an individual understands themselves and the other groups of people by studying and looking into how an individual and groups are linked with the structure and culture of a certain society in a particular historical period . An individual needs to understand the history of their own society so

that they would be able to understand their society and their purpose of existence on it . A person then can connect and relate to the public matters of the society they live in , rather than becoming isolated and a cast away in the social . Furthermore , multicultural society is being observed too and linked with others in a global society

Unfortunately , people do not see the link between the personal events in an individual 's everyday life and the society where they live . People living in a country like the United Sates are experiencing the complexity of looking beyond their immediate situation . For instance somebody who lost their job , got addicted to alcohol or had a divorce would have trouble imagining that these certain experiences or events that are happening into their lives are somehow can be related to an immense cultural or historical processes .
